Life, even in the most mundane seasons, is full.
The last 2 years have been filled with 2 new normals. Both of these were complete surprises, and neither of which I expected or pursued. I started an amazing full-time job, and we bought the house of my dreams. (This is true. It is such a great house that I’ve been hesitant to share it anywhere, for fear of causing anyone to despair about their own. That statement reveals something about myself.)
The new house and job provided a huge dose of confidence in the serendipitous nature of God. Some of life’s best opportunities can’t be planned, manipulated, or forced…they germinate and bloom through the elements of time, prudence, and relationships.

Besides these energizing new things, there’ve been some hardships that caused complications. I allowed these circumstances to stall my creative cycle. When nothing makes sense and things are entirely foggy, creating is the last thing on my mind. When life gets hard, I wallow entirely into consumer-mode.
This feels like the path of least resistance, and it is. Less cooking, less reading, less exercise. Worse relationships, terrible time management, forgetting to listen to the quiet whisper of God. Hardly any “ah-ha” moments to share here. Virtually nothing to show for the time in the consumer-slog, and an overall feeling of directionlessness. Two years into this madness, I realize I am missing a piece of my humanity.
Meanwhile, this WordPress account lapsed, and with it went the http://www.theprimepursuit.com domain. When I tried to recover it earlier this week, I learned it is now for sale.
Alas, the new domain is theprimepursuit.life, and to be honest, it better captures my heart for this space, anyway.
So I am back to a healthier headspace now. I am grateful to be here, but also grateful for the darker journeys–all of them. If you are down in the consumer bog, be encouraged. Give yourself a wide margin of grace. Creativity in all its forms is hard-wired into our humanity, it’s infused in us as image-bearers, and it can be resurrected at once.

P.S. If you are browsing and any links are broken, just switch from .com to .life and it should work.

SO GLAD you are back!! It’s been too long. Love catching up

Would love to hear about the job as well I’ve started working myself and it has been so great. I’m glad your back.

You are correct this is a perfect home. I’ve been in the house before and marveled as to what had been done to make it a very livable home.

Your new home looks absolutely charming and delightful! I hope we get to sneak a peek sometime! If you are still in NY, Trevor will be that way for reserve duty again and maybe we can catch you!

Erin! Thanks for your encouragement. If you can’t reach the dressing recipe, let me know. Try replacing “.com” with “.life” and see if it works
